Eco-Car Challenge

Today, with the price of oil hovering at USD100 per barrel and the effects of global warming becoming more and more severe, there is a need to look into and develop vehicles that use non-petroleum based fuel and also reduce greenhouse gas emission.

The Eco-Car Challenge, held for the first time in Bangkok in Feb 2007, is intended to encourage the adoption of alternate-fueled vehicles. The vehicles were battery-powered, and the competition was to see which vehicles could travel faster and further on a single battery charge.

More than 20 participants entered this inaugural race and the next race in March 2008 is expected to see more than 30 teams.
